How a web design goes straight to hell

Sadly, we’ve all seen it happen. Funny read though.

This is one of the best articles I have found on my web-perambulations today.

Star W...reck

19 May, 2009 - 00:14

Last night I went to go and see the new Star Trek movie and I was seriously impressed. Good acting, gripping action, edge of your seat special effects and a solid plot with some very subtle nods to the early series. I am still and always will be a bigger fan of Star Wars (May the fourth be with you, always), but I agree with BrockleyBoyo:

THAT, Mr Lucas, is how you make a prequel!”

I am the Tech Pragmatist

1 May, 2009 - 15:23

Following on from my Fireballer post, the arrival of my t-shirt yesterday (which thankfully the wife approved of — “It is a nice geek t-shirt”) reminded me to post a little update. After moving house, I still have no home internet connection thanks to the great ineptitude of BT (more on which later), so it is something of a testament to my determination that I have followed through on the musings in my fireballer post.

Fry on spellchecking

15 March, 2009 - 23:05

… if you’re in front of a computer screen all day, then the images and icons that you’re manipulating are somehow ever present in your mind. And so you get rather comic moments where if you see a misspelled word in a book when you’re reading a book, you wonder why it hasn’t got a wavy underline from the spellchecker.”

House move a success

15 March, 2009 - 22:52

Operation ‘Move house while being ill’ was a complete success. In both senses. I moved house, and I was physically ill during it.

I owe a massive thank-you to my sister Jenna and her man Phil for helping out, without them (and their van) it would have been a nightmare. We still have loads of stuff to move but have a couple of weeks to cart that from one place to the next. Rosie displayed exemplary timing by being in Berlin just when we moved.
